A national senior care business with an office in Sioux Falls has created a program to offer cold weather companionship to seniors.

SYNERGY HomeCare is offering services from its caregivers geared toward cold weather needs. They will arrange for ice and snow to be cleared from driveways, make sure the heat is set at a safe temperature, provide activities to help seniors avoid depression, prepare meals and monitor nutrition and medication, and help with mobility.

“When severe winter weather hits, seniors can feel trapped, frightened and alone. We’re asking our caregivers to go above and beyond to be cold weather companions,” said Rick Basch, president. “We already assist seniors with daily tasks, but now many of them will need even more help.”

The Sioux Falls office is at 2500 W. 49th St.
