Stroke Home Care by SYNERGY HomeCare of West Denver

Coming home after a stroke can cause some stress and anxiety, but proper stroke recovery and home safety can make your transition easy and effective. According to the National Stroke Association, 40 percent of people fall within one year of a stroke, so it's extremely important to keep your house hazard-free so you can move about without danger. Remember to reach out to friends and family to help you recover from your stroke. It's hard to do everything alone, and asking for help could improve your quality of life.

When you get home from the hospital, it's important to make your home easily accessible, especially if you have a wheelchair. It may be difficult to bounce back to your normal routine, so taking necessary steps could be a process. Make sure that you are able to reach things safely. You may even need to install new railings or a seat in your shower to make day-to-day activities easier. The National Stroke Association recommends removing rugs that could slip and removing electrical cords out of your path to avoid falls. Most importantly, keep a phone and a list of important numbers within reach in case of an emergency situation.

SYNERGY HomeCare of West Denver can help you or your loved one recover and cope following a stroke. Please contact us to learn more or for a free consultation.
